Top Hops is a bottle shop, tasting bar, classroom and cultural center for craft and import beers, all in one establishment, located in New York's Lower East Side. It’s the kind of place where seasoned beer geeks can share their enthusiasm and new craft beer fans can learn a bit more about the magic combination of hops, yeast, barley and water. Peruse our fridges with 700+ bottles and cans from around the world. Join us at our tasting bar where you can sample a flight of freshly poured beer, try a bottle from the fridge, all while enjoying some beer friendly local bites. We will happily fill up a growler or crowler of fresh beer for you to take home to enjoy later. More than a bottle shop, more than a craft beer bar, Top Hops is a celebration of beer, and the good people who brew it. We host a wide range of educational events and brewmaster visits. We foster appreciation for the craft and history of great beer. We are merchants AND advocates.
About Ted Kenny
Top Hops is Ted Kenny’s dream come true. He can blame it all on the St. Sebastian Blonde he tried way back in 1989, an experience which rocked his beer world. In 2005 after 10+years toiling in the financial markets, Ted joined In Bev USA and then Anheuser-Busch where he worked with the European and craft brands, ultimately focusing on Stella Artois. His tenure provided him with an invaluable education on the brewing process and the business of beer. The idea for Top Hops unfolded in 2010 as all great ideas do, over dinner and beers with friends. Ted understood implicitly that consumer tastes were changing and that there was a hole in the market for beer lovers. It was a memorable evening and the plan was hatched.
This is an exciting time to be a craft beer lover. At Top Hops we have 20 tap lines which we rotate regularly so you always have a new beer to sample. We keep it interesting because we love quenching your thirst—and your curiosity—with our fresh, delicious beer. We welcome you to enjoy a glass or flight at our tasting bar or you can take home a 64 oz. growler or our new 32 oz. crowler. Either way, you’ll find lots of great information about your choice on our daily chalkboard where we post all kinds of useful information including style, geographic origin and ABV. Draft beer can be the best way to enjoy your favorite craft beer but only when cared for properly. We refrigerate all our kegs, all the time. We clean our own draft lines to ensure that every pour is to our exacting and consistent standards. Our goal is to deliver the beer to our customers as intended by the brewmasters. When brewmasters come to town they love to check out our chalkboard where we even list when we clean each line, a measure of how seriously we treat our beer.
Bottles + Cans
In our fridges and on the shelves, we carry an impressive 700+ bottles and cans. Most are chilled and ready to go. We are extremely proud of our selection, which includes the best in American crafts, hard-to-find specialty beers, international intrigues, the newest seasonal brews and the traditional classics. Not sure what you like? Belly up to the bar and sample any bottle for a nominal corkage fee. Still can’t make up your mind? Mix your own six- or four-pack to take home.

Orchard Street + Our Neighborhood
We are proud to call 94 Orchard Street our beer home, the heart of New York City's Lower East Side. First known as Kleindeutschland, or "Little Germany," later a Jewish enclave, the neighborhood has been home to immigrants from the mid 19th Century to the present day. The street's past as the heart of the immigrant experience is captured at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum directly across the street from Top Hops. Beyond the attractions of the Museum, we are surrounded by some of the city's best bars, restaurants, shops and, most importantly, people. We love our home and trust that you will too.
